EDUCATION

The Restoration Trust espouses field-based education about our natural resources at the community level. We especially work with elementary school students to introduce them to the enjoyment of our creeks, wetlands, and other habitats. We believe that education provides the framework for a lasting, positive relationship between the student and his or her environment.

The Trust typically works on a grade-level specific exercise with specific schools at specific habitats. For exampled, our Shin Kee project brought students from Stockton schools to a restored brackish marsh to plant sedges and willows and learn about the ecology of the Delta. Subsequently, we developed a science based curriculum specifically based on Shin Kee beginning with 4th grade students and designed to expand to the remaining grades.
