Restoration Work Continues at Grayson Creek

Restoration work at Grayson Creek continues due to the hard work of the Restoration Trust, Walnut Creek Watershed Council, Contra Costa County Resource and Conservation District, and the Flood Control District. Together these organizations coordinated the planting of more than 4,000 native seedlings in January 2021, including creeping wild rye, valley sedge, field sedge and various wildflowers. The Restoration Trust also installed cages to protect the seedlings from voracious Canada geese. This planting follows the restoration event last year in which more than 40 volunteers removed invasive weeds such as Arundo Donax and planted natives.

We look forward to continuing to restore this section of Grayson Creek with support from community volunteers and organizations.
